Gate 10 - The Fish Gate
FISH GATE: Fishers of men
(Nehemiah 3:3) The Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place. (NIV)

The second gate mentioned is the fish gate, which could have been where the fishermen would bring in their catches to be sold at the marketplace. This is one of the main entrances of Jerusalem. As such, both Jews and Gentiles would enter the city from this gate.

Christ called His disciples ‘Fishers of Men’ and, because of this, the Fish Gate represents evangelism – ‘the great commission’. What better place to evangelize than the main marketplace and entrance of a major city.
Matthew 4:19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”(NIV)
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)
Jeremiah 16:14-16a “However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ 15 but it will be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their ancestors. 16 “But now I will send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will catch them. (NIV)
Galatians 3:24-29 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. 26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (NIV)

These gates lead to the bottom field where lakes have been dug and stocked with fish
